Cinema lens and filter maker NiSi continues its expansion into strange product categories. This time, the company has released its first macro focusing rail: a competitively-priced addition to the market that gives macro enthusiasts a lot of control and some nice-to-have features for precise focus stacking.
The NM180 Macro Focusing Rail isn’t the cheapest rail system you can by, but it offers a feature set and construction typically reserved for more expensive options. That includes features like:
- CNC machined aluminum construction
- Arca-type compatible quick release clamp with included plate
- 3/8” and ¼” attachments on bottom
- 160mm of usable range with
- Collapsible thumb-screw knob with 1.25mm of travel per revolution
- 360 degree rotating head
- A longer quick-release plate for telephoto lens and with a groove for straps
- Detachable feet for use on a table top

All of this is being made available for $130, putting it squarely in competition with other affordable options from companies like Sunwayfoto, and far below the more expensive rails available from companies like Really Right Stuff and Kirk.
